Actos and Avandia

The diabetes medications, Actos and Avandia, are of the thiazoladinedione class of antidiabetic oral agents. The work by reducing insulin resistance. They can rarely cause liver damage. More common problems include weight gain and edema that can lead to an aggravation of fluid retention in patients with heart failure or kidney failure.
